Office Overview

Your lawyer and you are always welcome to call. But until an understanding to provide services is established, there are no commitments on either of us.

Any understanding will be set out in a formal Engagement Letter, which will set out the scope of our arrangement. It is important to understand that our relationship for services for your lawyer and you will apply only to the matters in the Letter. This may be of significance since Congress can modify the tax laws, State statutes and case law may modify the effect of divorce, and very importantly - your personal, financial and family circumstances may change.

All information from, and communication with you and your lawyer is continually privileged, confidential and will not ever divulged without your lawyer's or your express written direction, or otherwise required under law. Unless told otherwise by you and your lawyer, we will only act upon information from your lawyer or you.

The definite preference is to receive photocopies of all documentary information, which will be returned to your lawyer and you at the end of the services. Please never provide original documents, although they may be reviewed at your lawyer's office.

The use of e-mail is absolutely discouraged as a method to receive information. But if no other method is available, you are expressly advised that [1] e-mail is not a secure method of communication. [2] any e-mail that is sent to or by you may be copied and held by various computers it passes through as it goes to or from either of us. [3] persons with no right to participate in our communication may intercept them by improperly accessing either of our computers or even some computer which is not connected to either of ours through which an e-mail passes.

It is so vitally important that all information you provide be accurate and complete to the very best of your ability. What you provide will be relied upon. Any deficiencies or inaccuracy may result in inappropriate recommendations to your lawyer and you.

Lastly, due to personal, parental and professional considerations, and certainly the dynamics of the divorce process, conferences with lawyers and clients are frequently outside traditional "office hours".
